Apologies: I thought I had replied to you but apparently not.
I hope you have found a way to solve the issue. If not, hopefully the Why do I keep seeing "Loading subtitle editor..." message instead of the editor? resource can help you.
Just a comment on point 2. about removing malware: if you are not experienced in doing that, ask someone else who knows how to.
