Thank you for sharing your question and your contributions to help make online content more accessible!
When you hit "publish" on a subtitle language on a video on Amara it shows as complete on the Amara video page.
You are always welcome to share a link to a video page, or specific language, in your portfolio or social media accounts to share and highlight your work.
If the video was added to Amara by a user who has synced their Amara account with their Vimeo or YouTube channel it will automatically export to the host site when you hit "Publish".
You can check if a video on Amara is synced with the host site on the video page on Amara.
This screenshot shows this video is synced to the host YouTube channel.
I hope this helps. If you have more questions on a specific video you can email us at support@amara.org and we'll be happy to help :)
Happy Subtitling!
Rieann
Hi there!
I'm pretty new to translation, and I'm still figuring things out. I'm Brazilian, and I'm really working on my English to become a translator.
Quick question: when I'm done with "Editing Subtitles/Captions" and hit "Publish", does my work actually update on YouTube? And is it okay to use those links in my portfolio?
I access videos from the "Public Workspace" on Amara
Any help would be awesome!
Hi, thanks for the reply. However, I think that the video was public - that's how I found it in the first place. In fact, now I remember, I did actually manage to send the link to someone, but then a few weeks later I tried sending it to someone else - two other people, and neither of them could open it. It's this one: https://www.facebook.com/l.php?u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.amara.org%2Fpt%2Fvideos%2FKUOiQIpBDRMr%2Finfo%2Frepresenting-yourself-in-custody-court-one-parents-experiences%2F&h=9AQGKr3UL&s=1

Hi guys. I'm totally new to this, so sorry if this is a stupid question. I'm guessing it's because one has to be signed up to watch, but is there anything I can do about it? I thought about sending the video with my subtitles to the channel that made the video, to ask if they'd like to use it, or if they mind me using it. I did it to get some subtitling experience and start to build a portfolio. Is there some way I can show this video to people over the internet?
